Crescer / Growing up

More than three years after I had, at least, realized that a baby is not exactly the same as a doll, I looked at the screen that showed us, for the very first time ever, my youngest brother. I loved him right away, even not being able to understand the image in front of me.
He was a very cute baby, with the most awesome hair ever, that took my nonsenses and my personality (I was chosen to be his godmother, so I tried my best, maybe a little too much, to make him in my image and semblance).
He hasn't grown up a lot yet, but he has already gone through what most people his age have, he know what real fear feels, he knows about overcoming big problems and he knows what fighting anxiety is. On the other hand, he knows what it is to be spoiled as the youngest of five.
My baby brother, born this century, is older than over a decade. He just turned twelve this wednesday and I couldn't help being surprised about how fast this happened, which almost made me want to decide not having kids, so I wouldn't have to watch them quit being babies to turn into teenagers and, eventually, into adults.
